Professionals
The commitment and human and professional
values of all who make up PSMAR are shown
continually, each day, in our centers. Even now, when
tough decisions have to be taken, the role of the
professionals has been outstanding, as shown in the
negotiations over the collective agreement, the first
to be signed by a health care organization since the
start of the crisis, and in the improved productivity
due to improved clinical management. Autonomy
and responsibility, challenges and commitments -
these are the binomial pairs the professionals and
the organization have agreed to.
“Hospital del Mar was awarded a
prize as one of the best in Spain in the
Area of Kidney and Urinary Tract. The
results in indicators such as mortality,
complications, stays, laparoscopic
surgery and partial kidney nephrectomy
in kidney tumors, were decisive in
obtaining this acknowledgement.”

First collective agreement in the health
care sector signed since the start of the
cutbacks
Management and the works council at PSMAR
signed the collective agreement that will govern
the employment conditions of the institution’s
professionals in the coming years. With this
agreement, PSMAR, after a year of intense
negotiations, became the first organization in the
health care sector to reach a labor agreement, ratified
in a referendum by the company workers, with 95%
of votes in favor (1791 votes in favor and 96 against).
Constitution of the Committee for
Evaluating Medical Management
Positions
The Committee for Evaluating Medical Management
Positions was constituted with the aim of
periodically evaluating the hierarchical positions of
care management. In the first year, the committee
evaluated 16 posts.
Improvement of teaching professionals
The project “Ensenya i @pren” has been implemented
to identify and consolidate a group of trainers from
among the professionals of PSMAR to collaborate
with the Continuous training unit and the teaching
service in order to teach courses in the areas in which
they are experts. The objective of the project is to
optimize the investment in training and offer the
opportunity for professional development.
1x1 Program: exchange of nursing
professionals between tertiary hospitals in
Barcelona
Sponsored by the nursing departments of the five
hospitals in the city (Hospital del Mar, Hospital de
Sant Pau, Hospital Vall d’Hebron, Hospital Clínic
and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu), the exchange
program between the tertiary hospitals shows
nursing professionals how nurses work in another
hospital. It also provides the opportunity for different
training, with the aim of sharing, improving and
updating knowledge, skills and attitudes in the face
of scientific and technological development and the
health care needs of the citizens.
Ignasi Fina prize for care of working
women during pregnancy
Barcelona City Council awarded the Ignasi
Fina Occupational Health Prize to the PSMAR
Occupational Health Service. This recognition is
for the program for care of working women during
pregnancy and breastfeeding, which has the aim
of protecting their health, the health of the fetus
and, subsequently, that of the newborn child, from
potential risks deriving from their work.
