Sustainability > Objectives
>
Promoting the project of the shared diagnostic
services platform, based on the Catalan Reference
Laboratory, the Anatomical Pathology Service and
the Diagnostic Imaging Service.
>
Adapting to the new model of contracting via
information systems, tertiary care and chronic care.
>
Reorganizing and restructuring the Institute
of Neuropsychiatry and Addictions (INAD), in
accordance with current regional requirements,
thereby consolidating our experience in clinical
management of mental health.
>
Managing productivity by adapting staff to
production needs, reorganization of some duty
modules and negotiation of the new model of
payment and recuperation of hours through
implementation of the tool for planning schedule
management.
Patient Care
We are committed to a model of care organization
aligned with the goals of the Catalan Health Care
plan, in a project of our own that is increasingly
coordinated with other health care and social units.
By using strategic alliances, technology, and getting
the most out of our own services and our expertise,
we must maintain our position as a leading reference
organization in health care in Catalonia.
The Epilepsy Unit, a doubly gold standard
The Hospital del Mar Epilepsy Unit has become
consolidated as a reference in care of epileptic
patients who are resistant to drugs. In its first year of
operation, it has received patients from all over Spain
and has become the reference unit in this field.
For the first time in Spain, surgery was performed for
epilepsy using a robot arm, which has contributed
to making Hospital de Mar a leader in Catalan public
health care and in the treatment of this disease.
The new technology allows surgeons to operate on
patients who, until now, had been condemned to
suffer from the disease for their entire lives. Thanks
to the new robot, ROSA, doctors have managed to
considerably increase the accuracy and efficacy of
surgery to remove from the brain the focus that
causes the electrical discharges that lead to epileptic
fits.
New intervention neuroradiology service
for examinations and treatments
In a clear example of collaboration between
the public and private sectors, the intervention
neuroradiology service has been implemented
at the facilities of Hospital del Mar, run by the
company Neuroangiografia Terapèutica, SL. The
range of services includes a set of highly specialized
percutaneous techniques for rapid and safe diagnosis
of certain neurological vascular diseases, as well
as a therapeutic approach with minimally invasive
techniques. This therapeutic application reduces
hospitalization time and intra-operative morbidity
and mortality, with the resulting reduction in
hospital costs.
This initiative makes it possible to consolidate
Hospital del Mar in the vanguard of diagnosis and
treatment of neurovascular diseases.
More programs for coordination with
primary care
The strong community vocation that this institution
has developed has been boosted once again by the
strengthening of relations with primary care through
projects such as the electronic prescription and
care routes in the specialties of endocrinology and
cardiology. This model of relations places special
emphasis on patients with chronic diseases, who are
kept free of symptoms and thereby avoid having to
be admitted to hospital.
Clinical management information for all
medical departments
Clinical management teams have been developed
for all medical departments. This ensures that all
the professionals receive feedback on the activity
that they themselves generate and that they have
the tools to interpret the results in terms of care and
management.
